Call the police!!! The picture is stolen...

Rambunctious. That’s the least you can say about Belgian beatbastards The Subs. Having already released a couple of underground dance maxis – ‘You Make Me Spill’, ‘Fuck That Shit’, ‘Substracktion’ – over the past years, they hit it hard in 2008, with ‘Kiss My Trance’, a punktrance-juggernaut of a hitsingle.

The track started off as a joke, the band wanted to see how far they could push the limits of the trance-genre and get away with it. A true jack-in-the-box, ‘Kiss My Trance’ turned out te be a massive cross-over success: in genuine guerilla-style, ‘Kiss My Trance’ peaked both commercial charts AND dj-lists – it terrorized the radio AND put club dancefloors on fire.

And so the band received thumbs up from the likes of Boysnoize, Philippe Zdar, T. Raumschmiere, Laurent Garnier …!
And did remixes for Alex Gopher, The Lotterboys, Plump Dj’s, Telex…
So much for the joke then, The Subs are in business. For real. (more…)

Music has always been inherent throughout Maxime Firket’s life under several atypical forms : Before producing high quality electronic music (Compuphonic), and being a DJ (Soultronik), he learned the rudiments of classical music since his early childhood. Educated as a violoncellist, and played in several pop-rock bands. He grew up listening to the sounds of Kraftwerk, Front 242, Depeche mode, and eventually got facinated by the essence of Detroit’s music (Kevin Saunderson, Carl Craig …) which made him start Dj’ing. The same year, he joined the collective and started mixing for a Belgian radio (Radio Hellena).
